Should be used when there is a high risk of forage heating, moulding, spoilage:
- when the dry matter of the material to be acidified is too high for good and proper acidification to take place
- when biological leavening and natural acidification of the material is difficult
- when the material to be acidified is contaminated with soil, dead or decaying plant parts, manure, etc.)
- when the feed contains high levels of sugars or starch
- when bacteria, yeasts and moulds have grown in the material to be preserved
- when the grass has been on the field for more than one day and there is a risk that bacteria have already built up and the grass is starting to spoil
- when the silo is filled over several days and the mass to be acidified is exposed to air and precipitation
- when the feeding rate is too slow
- if the feed usually moulds, becomes hot, spoils during storage, after opening the container or on the feed table
