Should be used when there is a high risk of forage heating, moulding, spoilage:

when the material is wet and stored in the presence of air
when the material is stored in an airless environment but is poorly sealed
when the dry matter of the material to be acidified is too high for good and proper acidification to take place
when the feed contains high levels of sugars or starch
when biological leavening and natural acidification of the material is difficult
when the canned material is contaminated with soil, dead or decaying plant parts, manure, etc.)
when bacteria, yeasts and moulds have grown in the canned material
when the grass bladder has been in the field for more than one day and there is a risk that bacteria have already built up and the grass is starting to spoil
