excellent taste and smell of silage
high edibility and digestibility of silage
significantly lower losses of silage dry matter, energy, protein, etc.
preventing the growth and development of yeasts and moulds in silage

Canned forage with Xtrasil Classic:

  • silage of leguminous grasses (clover, lucerne)
  • grass silage
  • silage of grasses, leguminous grasses mixtures
  • cereal silage

Should be used when there is a high risk of forage heating, moulding, spoilage:

  • when the activity of biological species and natural acidification is hampered
  • when the dry matter of the grass to be acidified is low (around 15-30 %)
  • when silage production takes place under adverse weather conditions (rainy weather)
  • when the material to be acidified is contaminated with soil, dead or decaying plant parts, manure, etc.
  • when the grass bladder has been left in the field for more than one day and there is a risk that bacteria have already grown in the bladder and the grass is starting to spoil
  • when the silo is filled over several days and the mass to be acidified is exposed to air and precipitation
  • when the acidifying mass contains a low concentration of sugars
  • when the grass mass to be acidified is high in protein and minerals (why more lactic acid is needed for acidification
  • where analyses of the silage produced regularly show butyric acid
  • where silage has a generally unpleasant smell and where it is suspected that undesirable micro-organisms have interfered with good fermentation
